How this DFW financial consulting firm grew in tough times

Landon Smith - Riveron Founder & CEOLandon Smith started building a book of business in 2003,  fresh after the Enron scandal and the Sarbanes-Oxley accounting reform law that followed. All of a sudden the big-four accounting firms could not provide accounting advice. Smith said they could say yes or no to whether a client was right or wrong, and when the client would ask what they needed to do, they would reply, “We can’t really tell you.” When the firms shrunk back to their core businesses and out of the consulting space, Smith stepped in – though he says he stumbled into it.

In 2006 he started Riveron, a financial consulting firm. Now 10 years later, Smith spoke with the Dallas Business Journal and talked about lessons learned from the company’s founding, navigating the 2008 financial crisis, and how they plan to grow in this time of economic uncertainty.
